About Our Karate School

At ISKF, the non-profit International Shotokan Karate Federation headquartered in Philadelphia, our mission is to preserve and spread traditional karate through exceptional instruction.

For more than 50 years, ISKF Colorado has kept our direct lineage to Japanese karate, following Sensei Yaguchi's footsteps. Our ultimate goal is to build good character through hard training.

At the start of 2017, Sensei Dale and Sensei Ryu took over the business at the Denver location after Sensei Yaguchi's retirement. Now ISKF Colorado has three schools located in Denver, Centennial, and Lone Tree. We are part of the ISKF Mountain States Region. The history and tradition inspire us to excel in our practice.

Principles of Our Karate School

Seek Perfection of Character

Be Faithful

Endeavor

Respect Others

Refrain from Violent Deeds

Master Gichin Funakoshi believed that for the true karate-ka, these principles should not only be a set of rules of conduct in the dojo, but a guide to everyday life.

Everyone who trains in karate must know the dojo kun. The dojo kun states the basic philosophy of karate, according to its founder, Master Gichin Funakoshi. He believed that for the true karate-ka, the dojo kun should not only be considered a set of rules of conduct in the dojo, but a guide to everyday life. Everything we learn in the dojo, we should apply to everyday life.
